The Grown-Up Side of Branson - Wineries, Distilleries, and Dining!

Sure, Branson is the ideal family destination, but it also has a grown-up side you’ll love, and you’ll find it in the growing list of wineries, distilleries, and other outlets for enjoying tasty, refreshing, and food-enhancing adult beverages.  The popular St. James brand is the latest addition to Branson’s winery district; offering tastings of the incredible variety made by the multi-award winning Missouri winery, as well as a fabulous gift shop, and first rate restaurant.  The menu of wines is varied, with whites that include Moscato, Velvet White, Sauvignon Blanc, and Vignoles, and reds like Cynthiana, Estate Norton, and Velvet Red.  There’s also a nice selection of fruit wines, including customer favorites, like the Blackberry Blueberry, Cranberry, Peach, and Cherry.

Fans of St. James knew what to expect at the new Branson facility when it came to the wine, but the restaurant was a pleasant surprise, and an exciting discovery for newcomers to the brand.  The nicely appointed dining room at St. James Winery & Restaurant features an open kitchen, a talented chef, and the most hospitable waitstaff you’ll find anywhere...and then there’s the phenomenal food!  The menu offers a nice variety for every palate, while still being a manageable size, making the selection process satisfying and simple!  Pizza, sandwiches, and salads might sound like everyday eating at typical restaurants, but at St. James, it means sandwiches like the Che Figata - smoked turkey, brie cheese, fig jam, bacon, and fresh baby spinach...pizza like the Pig & Fig, made with fresh ingredients that include fig jam and prosciutto, the Big Kahuna, made with pineapple and cured pork tenderloin, and the Family Heirloom, made with heirloom tomatoes and pesto spread. There’s a new dining spot in town, and it’s one you won’t find anywhere but Branson at St. James Winery & Restaurant!  With an impressive selection of wines, it’s the ideal adult entertainment in music city!  It’s also easy to find, just off Highway 76 on Highway 165, between Green Mountain Drive and Titanic Museum Attraction.

In addition to the new St. James, there are several wineries and distilleries that have helped make Branson a fun destination for adults.  Curling Vine Winery, formerly Stone Hill - Branson’s first winery, has been offering tours and tastings for more than 25 years, and you’ll find it practically next door to St. James at the corner of Highway 165 and Green Mountain Drive.  They also have an nice gift shop and plenty of convenient, level parking.  About a block away from Curling Vine, you’ll discover Mt. Pleasant Winery on Green Mountain Drive.  They also offer tastings, have a nice gift shop, and hold regular Wine 101 classes, helping newcomers learn the five s’s of wine tasting -- see, swirl, sniff, sip, and savor.  Head on out West Highway 76 to State Highway 265, where you’ll find Lindwedel Winery.  Offering a gorgeous view of the Ozarks hills and Branson countryside, Lindwedel has a nice selection of wines, and they offer snacks, gift baskets, special events, and a regular schedule of live music.

In addition to wineries, Branson hosts a growing distillery industry.  Copper Run Distillery & Tasting Room is located north of Branson, just a few minutes off Highway 65 on Day Road, in the midst of gently rolling hills filled with trees.  They create small batch spirits on-site, including Ozark Mountain Moonshine, Whiskey, and Rum.  They also offer light munchies and a regular schedule of live music and special events.  At Branson Landing, you’ll find Smith Creek Moonshine, where favorite moonshine flavors include Apple Pie, Peach, Sweet Tea, and Chocolate Silk. There’s also dining on-site that showcases delicious stuffed hamburgers.  Missouri Ridge Distillery enjoys a scenic location on Highway 248, where they create a variety of smooth whiskeys, including Corn Whiskey, Single Barrel Bourbon, Howlin’ Hounds Moonshine, and American Single Malt Whiskey,  Dining at the distillery includes tasty barbecue and a variety of munchies that go perfectly with their handcrafted spirits. On Highway 76, right in Branson’s entertainment district, you’ll discover Crown Valley Distillery, where they offer spirits, beers, ciders, and wines.  You can enjoy a 30-minute tour that comes with the purchase of a tasting session.  The Crown Valley Bistro offers a nice menu that changes seasonally, and if you have the kids with you, there’s also a soda tasting station for the little ones.

If you’ve decided on spending the night in, but would still like to enjoy an adult beverage or two, Branson has a large, well-stocked Macadoodle’s store near Historic Downtown Branson, and right across from Branson Landing.  You’ll discover a huge selection that includes just about every kind of beer, wine, whiskey, rum, and spirit imaginable!

Everyone who loves Branson knows that it’s the perfect place to bring the entire family, but there’s also a growing wine, whiskey, and dining side to Branson that offers perfect grown up fun for celebrating couples, your favorite group of girlfriends, you and your fishing buddies, or just a drink after work for locals!  Discover the grown-up Branson...your Branson...one that’s perfect for adults, and still friendly for those times when the kids just have to come along!  For more information on St. James Winery & Restaurant, Mt.
