Branson - Where Animals Steal the Spotlight and Your Heart!

Love animals?  So does Branson!  Shows, attractions, and even a growing zoo can all be found in the destination best known for human entertainers.  Incredibly talented singers, musicians, magicians, and comedians continue to dominate the list of Branson’s biggest assets, but humankind’s best friends are gaining fast fans in this talented town!  Let’s explore nine of the more notable ‘creature comforts’ found in Branson:

1.  Branson’s Promised Land Zoo offers the promise of big furry fun!  Well, maybe they’re not all furry critters, but you can be assured they’re all equally fascinating!  Guests of all ages love meeting them in this up-close-and-personal zoo adventure that offers both ideal family entertainment and a fun way to learn more about nature’s wonderful creatures.  There are both safe viewing and interactive experiences available, like petting, bottle-feeding baby animals, and free-flying parakeets nibbling at a seed stick in your hand. The creatures you’ll see include deer, goats, zebras, parakeets, frogs, turtles, snakes, sloths, and more.

General Schedule:  10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days a week

2.  Amazing Pets deliver an “always amazing” performance!  This fun-filled Grand Country show features precocious and precious pets - cats and dogs alike - playfully performing just to please you!  Lovingly trained and cared for, some of these talented critters have been rescued from shelters, giving them a forever home and a chance to make new friends with every show.  Gorgeous birds also get in on the act at Amazing Pets!

Location:  Grand Country Music Hall on Highway 76 - The Strip

General Schedule:  10:00 a.m. from April through December - limited 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. shows

3.  Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner wouldn’t be a “stampede” without horses, right, and this delightful show offers 32 of the gorgeous creatures.  Not only do these striking horses steal the spotlight during every exciting performance, their grand stables are situated along the sidewalk entry into the venue for everyone to enjoy.  Stampede productions always showcase lots of animals, at times featuring dogs, pigs, ostriches, buffalo, and...who knows what might be coming next?

Location:  Highway 76 - The Strip

General Schedule:  5:30 p.m. from April through December - also limited shows at 12:30, 3:00, and 8:00 p.m.

4.  Hamners’ Unbelievable Variety offers the believable wonder of music, magic, laughter, and more!  Adding to the beauty and mystique of this sensational show is a bevy of brilliantly-hued birds, expertly trained and a joy to behold!  It’s hard to imagine a magic show without animals, and these talented creatures are a true treasure for the Hamners, helping them deliver an incredible and action-packed performance throughout the year!

Location:  Shepherd of the Hills Expressway

General Schedule:  8:00 p.m. from April through October - limited 3:00 p.m. shows - Hamners’ Unbelievable Christmas takes over for November and December.

5. Butterfly Palace & Rainforest Adventure shares the delicate beauty of one of Mother Nature’s most stunning creations!  Children especially delight in discovering the butterflies found in glorious abundance at this popular attraction.  In addition to these fluttering winged wonders, you’ll encounter a variety of frogs, salamanders, geckos, birds, and other fascinating creatures, surrounded by a variety of activities and special features found throughout the facility.

Location:  Highway 76 - The Strip - near the intersection with Shepherd of the Hills Expressway.

6.  Shepherd of the Hills Homestead & Adventure Park boasts the legendary outdoor drama, based on the best-selling novel, that employs a large cast of both human and animal actors.  Horses in the play sometimes get to see more of the Homestead; the gentle creatures often go on trail rides. Mules, donkeys, sheep, and other farm animals can be seen in the nighttime production that also stars local actors who have older siblings, parents, and grandparents who’ve held roles in the iconic production over the years.  Longtime fans of the show will tell you that you haven’t been to the “real” Branson until you’ve seen the iconic Shepherd of the Hills come to life on the massive outdoor “stage!”

Location:  Highway 76 - about two miles past the intersection with Shepherd of the Hills Expressway - prior to the turn-off for Silver Dollar City

General Schedule:  7:30 p.m. on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in September and October - 8:30 p.m. from May through August

7.  Sight & Sound Theatre is home to many of God’s most precious creatures!  Whether it’s the current production of “Samson,” or past shows, like “Jonah,” a prominent feature of every brilliant performance in this stunningly beautiful venue is an impressive cast of lovingly cared-for live animals, supplemented by a few electronic creatures, creating an animal friendly experience that thoroughly enchants audiences at one of Branson’s most popular and successful productions.

Location:  Shepherd of the Hills Expressway

General Schedule:  11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. from April through October - heaviest schedule at 3:30 p.m.

8.  Branson’s Wild World invites guests to explore the jungle, desert, and ocean, all in Branson!  If you like a lot of variety when it comes to enjoying animals, then you’re in for a real treat here!  Some of the incredible creatures that call Branson’s Wild World home include the: White Cockatoo, Arizona Blonde Tarantula, Leopard Gecko, Kangaroo, Flemish Giant Rabbit, Butterfly Stingray, African Crested Porcupine, Saltwater Crocodile, and the Bamboo Shark. Whoa!  This attraction is also home to an XD Motion Theater and 3D Adventure Mini-Golf.

9.  National Tiger Sanctuary is home to the Branson area’s coolest cats!  Rescued from homes, businesses, and the streets, exotic and domestic felines and canines have found a loving forever home in this expansive preserve.  Beautiful domestic Great Pyrenees rescued from the street...gorgeous white tigers rescued from a adorable Ring-Tailed Lemur bounced from owner to owner...are just a few examples of how these incredible animals come to find a home at the Sanctuary.

Location:  Highway 65 - about 15 minutes north of Branson
