Mike Walker is easily one of Branson’s best tribute artists, especially when it comes to paying sincere tribute to someone he has long idolized, like Conway Twitty, and taking hilarious impersonations to a whole new level! The late and legendary entertainer, Andy Williams, who spent his final performing years entertaining one packed house after another in Branson, once claimed that Walker was one of the most talented guys he’d ever seen perform - that’s quite a compliment coming from a favorite American crooner. And Walker isn’t just a comedic performer getting loads of laughs at every show, he’s one seriously excellent singer! He enjoyed a hit song on the country charts, “Honey Do,” and has performed with a long list of world-famous artists, including a concert tour with the country superstar act, Brooks & Dunn, and touring/sharing the stage with the likes of Mickey Gilley, Keith Urban, Alabama, Dr. Hook, the Bellamy Brothers, and Toby Keith - he even opened for a Branson performance by Jay Leno. (Take a look at the concerts scheduled for Branson in 2019 - there’s even a few artists who’ve worked with Mike Walker: “Branson Welcomes 23 Big Name Acts to the Concert Stage for 2019!”)
Not one for being idle, Mike is one of the very few headliners in Branson who actually stars in two different shows: Conway Remembered and Mike Walker Lasting Impressions, both incredibly good and so popular, the Hamners’ have hosted both of his shows at their Variety Theatre in Branson’s growing Shepherd of the Hills District for several years. Conway Twitty racked up a long list of awards, and had he not left us far too soon (he actually passed away in 1993 in a Springfield, Missouri hospital while he was staying in Branson,) it’s likely he’d have kept recording new music for another 20 years. Witnessing Mike Walker channel the legendary Twitty makes it easy to forget that you’re not listening to the man himself, the country crooner who gave us classics like “It’s Only Make Believe,” “Hello Darlin’,” “Tight Fittin’ Jeans,” and “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” a fan favorite he recorded with the Queen of Country, Loretta Lynn, a frequent collaborator. Whether you’re familiar with Twitty’s music or not, you’ll thoroughly enjoy Walker’s brilliant and uncanny tribute to one of music’s most memorable singers.
If you enjoy a great impersonator, then you can’t miss catching a phenomenal one when Mike Walker commands the stage in his Lasting Impressions show! He’s honored many significant artists over the years, so every performance during his Lasting Impressions show could feature a wide variety of big names, including Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, James Brown, Michael Bolton, Roy Orbison, Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, Marty Robbins, Louis Armstrong, George Jones, Stevie Wonder, Frankie Valli, and even Kermit The Frog! And Mike doesn’t take these impersonations lightly - each one is delivered with authenticity, reverence, and very sincere respect for the talent, the legend, and the human being behind each and every superstar persona.
