Dolly Parton is true country music royalty, and one of its sweetest superstars! It’s only fitting that the show created to honor her music features The Sweethearts of Branson, Denny Yeary and Shelia Renee, as well as their lovely daughter, McKayla Christine. A talented singer and songwriter with a feisty personality, and famous for her over-the-top glamour, it’s hard not to love Dolly Parton, and Branson fans would certainly be thrilled to see her perform here. One of the most popular attractions in town is Dolly Parton’s Stampede Dinner Show, and it’s certainly something everyone should see, but Dolly’s name is on it because she’s part owner - she doesn’t actually perform in the show. Now that we’ve cleared that up, there is an excellent way to still hear the Dolly songs you and know and love -- there is a “next best thing” in Branson -- a sincere and authentic nod to the great lady of song herself, and it’s called Dolly & Friends - A Tribute! (Discover more Branson shows featuring country music: “Branson - Where to Get Your Country On in the Home of Live Entertainment!”)
At Dolly & Friends, you’ll enjoy the music of Dolly Parton, as well as other country greats, including songs made famous by artists who’ve had a big influence on Dolly and her career, including Johnny Cash, The Judds, Reba McEntire, and George Jones. Dolly’s been in the music business, and at the top of her game, for so long, she’s amassed an incredible catalog of hits, so Denny and Shelia Renee have narrowed it down a bit to include some of her most popular titles. You’ll enjoy hits like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and her duet with Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream,” as well as Dolly’s smash hit, “I Will Always Love You,” the song that became a big success for her as a singer, and then as a songwriter when it was famously recorded by the incomparable artist, Whitney Houston, who made the song a huge pop hit, bolstered by its use in Whitney’s movie with Kevin Costner, “The Bodyguard.”
Dolly & Friends - A Tribute can be seen at the Americana Theatre, located on Branson’s Strip - Highway 76. They offer afternoon performances at 2:00 p.m. on most Mondays from March 25 through December 9, and 5:00 p.m. shows on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays from March 26 through December 11 and on Friday, November 22. They have one morning performance - 10:00 a.m. - scheduled for Saturday, April 27. The Americana Theatre is also home to Raiding the Country Vault, Broadway to Bublé starring George Dyer, the Janice Martin Cirque Show, C.J. Newsom’s Classic Country & Comedy, Billy Yates’ Hit Songwriters in the Round, and Cassandre - Voice of an Angel. Grammy-nominated Nashville singer/songwriter, Billy Yates, also appears in Raiding the Country Vault, and C.J. Newsom’s show features one of Branson's favorite comedians, Terry Sanders.
