Christmas in Branson - It’s Brand New at Historic Shepherd of the Hills!

Nobody brings on the Christmas like Branson, and nothing says it’s going to be one happy holiday like a visit to an area landmark, especially one that’s both honoring the historic, and giving Branson visitors exactly what they want year after year...something new!

The Shepherd of the Hills is famous for the outdoor drama that’s been delighting audiences for decades, for the stunning Inspiration Tower, for a magical holiday lights drive-through display, for “meal included” music shows, and most recently, the outrageously cool Vigilante Extreme ZipRider. In the past year, new owners have installed a whole slew of outdoor activities...ATV rides, zipline canopy tours, ropes courses, and even a nifty little play area for the young’uns - Lil Pete's Playland.  And now they’re amping up that most happenin’ of holidays, one that turns Branson into a brilliant star on the entertainment landscape - Christmas! Here’s what’s new this coming season at one of the area’s most celebrated attractions - Shepherd of the Hills:

A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol Dinner Show:  After 58 seasons of the iconic Shepherd of the Hills Outdoor Drama, based on best-selling author, Harold Belle Wright’s, encounters with the sturdy, hard-scrabble hillfolk of the early 1900s Ozarks’, the Homestead announces a new Christmas tale that further follows characters from the memorable play.  Fans of the original production will love this continuing saga, and newcomers will enjoy a story that easily stands alone as a classic-in-the-making. The production takes up with Ollie Stewart several years after his sweetheart, Sammy Lane, gives her love to his childhood friend and rival, Young Matt Matthews.  You’ll experience a Christmas production that finds Mandy Ford, Uncle Ike, and the rest of the neighborhood’s attempts to include Ollie in their holiday festivities, complete with all the hilarity, friendship, and affection that ensues! A Shepherd’s Christmas Carol comes complete with a traditional holiday feast - Herb Roasted Turkey Breast, Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, Cornbread Stuffing, Green Beans, Dinner Roll & Butter, and a Pumpkin Dessert.  Feelin’ hungry yet?

North Pole Experience:  The Homestead is a beautiful property, and only made more so when thousands upon thousands of glittering lights are strung about!  To help guests fully appreciate the holiday spirit here, Shepherd of the Hills has created a “Family Walk-Through Experience” to enjoy the lights, as well as visit artisan crafts and hot chocolate stands.  Kids can also get up-close-and-personal with Santa’s Elves in the “Wishlist Workshop” and the “Stardust Stables.” And we’re not done yet...a “Tree Top Lot-A-Maze-ing Fun” makes for great family playtime, followed by the “Ho Ho Ho 200 Feet Up We Go” to discover the jolly ol’ elf himself in the awe-inspiring Inspiration Tower - making for the country’s “tallest” visit to Santa Claus!

Santa & Pancakes Show:   With the Shepherd of the Hills Homestead transformed into a dazzling wonderland of holiday magic, it’s only fitting to kick off your day with a delightful Christmas show and a fancy feast of morning munchies!  Scrumptious pancakes and sizzling sides of bacon and eggs are served up with a show that features Jolly Old Saint Nicholas himself, along with Branson’s favorite tour guide, Terry Sanders. Be there to help Santa, Mrs. Claus, Santa’s helper, and those merry and mischevious elves prepare for the biggest night of the year, one that’s filled with fun, frivolity, and unforgettable holiday cheer!  Breakfast includes Griddle-Fried Pancakes served with Whipped Cream & Syrup, Maple Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, and Warm Cinnamon Apples - yum, yum, yum!

Returning guests will be happy to know that you can still drive through the Trail of Lights; it’s been edited a bit to make room for the new North Pole Experience, but definitely worth a visit, especially if you take advantage of combo-ticket deals that include a “show and attraction” experience.  With so many fabulously fascinating ways to experience a frivolity-filled and festive Branson Christmas-time visit, find your way down the world-famous Strip to the unforgettably fun and fantastic Shepherd of the Hills Homestead! Come back home to Branson for the holidays in 2018!
